Fireworks…..My First

Indeed!  This is my first experience with photographing fireworks and it was at the end of the River Cats baseball game on June 22nd   I was surprised these pics were not totally bad.  Out of 10 photos, these two were numbers six and seven; the best of the bunch.  Shooting fireworks cannot be done in a hurry!  To top it off, I did not have a tripod with me, so these were taken handheld.  There was not enough time to have my camera completely ready prior to the light show.  What do you think?

This was a good learning experience.   Found these great tips to help me for the next time:  15 Tips for Successful Fireworks Photography.

  1. That’s great for hand held! I only have a point and shoot camera though it has manual settings but i’ve found that the special fireworks scene setting really does work the best. The other thing I do is use the 2 second self timer, that way you don’t have the camera shake from pressing the shutter. I use a little tripod or put the camera on something solid.
